Axel began studying Electrical Engineering at Indiana Institute of Technology but later shifted his focus to law enforcement, marking the start of a distinguished career.
Axel’s professional journey is defined by diverse and impactful roles. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he traveled extensively, experiencing many environments around the globe. From Australia to the Arctic, up and down the East Coast, and through the Panama Canal, Axel conducted critical law enforcement duties in open waters and along U.S. borders. After four years of service, he returned to California, where he was recruited by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Since joining the CHP in 1997, Axel earned a bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Development from Fresno Pacific University.
His career highlights include a two-year hiatus to train and mentor Iraqi police, various leadership roles within CHP, as well as District III Director for the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP). Axel also serves on multiple committees, earning the respect of his peers.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Axel is an advocate for foster youth, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to both his profession and community.
