Master Sergeant Andrew Lang enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1993 as an infantryman. His military career began with a four-year assignment in Italy, followed by three years with the 101st Airborne Division's Long Range Surveillance Detachment (LRSD), where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1999, Lang volunteered for Special Forces Assessment and Selection, successfully completing the rigorous process and advancing to the Special Forces Qualification Course. After earning his Green Beret, he further refined his expertise by attending the Special Operations Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) course.
Lang was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as an 18E Communications Sergeant. Over his distinguished career, he deployed seven times to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan, leading combat operations as an SFODA Team Sergeant (E-8). His expertise in Unconventional Warfare and Strategic Security Operations proved invaluable throughout his deployments.
After 26 years of service, Lang retired with numerous accolades, including two Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and other awards. Lang’s specialized training included Ranger School, HALO (High Altitude Low Opening), Static Line Jumpmaster, Advanced Special Operations Level 2, SERE, and the Peacetime Detention Course.
